Important Club Update
Following our last General Meeting and discussion with Poole Chess Club, it has been decided that both clubs will remain as they are. The option of a merger of the two clubs will not be pursued further.
The Bournemouth Chess Club will now focus on developing the club and attracting new members. We believe this is achievable by hosting our friendly Club Chess on the same evening we play B&DCL League matches. This will be on a Tuesday evening from 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Once the new season dates are available the evening schedule will be posted.
We look forward to building the club from strength to strength. I hope that everybody enjoys their last games of the season and has a wonderful summer holiday.

Annual General Meeting, Bournemouth Chess Club
Monday 2nd July 2018, 2pm, Kinson Community Centre
Committee present:
Paul Errington, chairman, Simon Errington, secretary, Andrew Alderton, treasurer.
Members present: Derek Jones, Paul Bland, Roy Eddington, Tim Lions, Ivan Willis
and Phil Sorrensen.
Monday 2nd July 2018, 2pm, Kinson Community Centre
Committee present:
Paul Errington, chairman, Simon Errington, secretary, Andrew Alderton, treasurer.
Members present: Derek Jones, Paul Bland, Roy Eddington, Tim Lions, Ivan Willis
and Phil Sorrensen.
- Chairman opened the meeting welcoming all present.
- Apologies for absence, Paul Jackson.
- No matters arising from last AGM, Minutes accepted unanimously.
- Secretary’s report.
- Chairman’s report. He reminded everyone of Two Towns Chess match on 12th September 2018. Dave Burt, ex Chairman, recovering from illness and everyone wished him well. Agreed to restart Monday afternoon open chess afternoon on 17th September.
- Treasurer’s report. A vote on annual subscription to be £50 per year. (If required £25 payable in September and £25 after Christmas. Proposed by Andrew Alderton and seconded by Ivan Willis.
- Block vote to continue with committee. Paul Errington proposed Roy Eddington as a new member of the committee. Seconded by Andrew Alderton.
- Bronze membership for league players £16 per year. Anyone requiring silver membership a further £8.
- Team reports. First team manager Paul Errington in division 2, came third. A very good result. Second team manager, Roy Eddington, division 2, were short of high grade players, put up a spirited performance, now relegated to division 3. Third team manager, Simon Errington, played division 5. Came second, good performance. Paul Bland won best player, the Boardman Trophy.
- Website fully operational, looking to recruit new members.
- Any other business. Looking to save costs. Proposal by Ivan Willis that Monday afternoon club chess will now be played on the first and third weeks of the month, instead of every Monday. Seconded by Andrew Alderton.
- Will advise all members on website of match/club nights which is usually a Tuesday evening.
- Paul Errington concluded the meeting at 3pm.

Tim Lines, Roger Strong.
1. Chairman opened meeting at 2pm, welcoming all present.
2. Apologies for absence from Antal Lima, Paul Jackson, Treasurer Andrew Alderton.
3. No matters arising from last AGM. Minutes accepted unanimously.
4. Secretary’s report.
5. Treasurer’s report.
6. A vote on annual subscription to continue at £30 per year. £2 membership Kinson Community Centre paid by individual members.
7. Block vote to continue with Committee and Chairman (Dave Burt steps down as committee member) was carried unanimously.
8. Bronze membership for league players £16, Silver £8.
Must be paid by 15th September 2017 for everyone wishing to play in the leagues.

First team.Team Manager Dave Burt, Division 3. Great effort, won division, promotion to second division.
Second team. Team Manager Paul Errington, Division 2.
Great result, came second, narrowly missing promotion to the first division.
10. Website will show evenings for league timetable to allow club players to have a club evening.
11. Discussed website and need to continue to attract new members (excellent facilities available at Kinson Community Centre).
12. Simon Errington will organise new team in 5th division for up and coming players.

AGM Minutes: August 2016
The Bournemouth Chess Club AGM was held on Monday 22nd August. It was well supported by the members, with proposals accepted by those present. The following decisions were made:
These decisions were made in the best interests of the club. For any member who could not attend the AGM, they are very welcome to contact Paul Errington, the club Chairman for any queries.
- To charge the moderate annual subscription of £30. In view of the Treasurer's report, which outlined increased costs when booking our weekly venue at the Kinson Community Centre. Subscriptions are to be paid to the Treasurer no later than 30th September.
- Members will pay their ECF bronze and silver membership, if they want to play in club matches and tournaments in the future.
- Club chess played on a Monday afternoon will continue, but with additional time available on a Tuesday evening, when club matches are scheduled. Members wishing to play on a Tuesday evening can arrive from 6.30pm.
These decisions were made in the best interests of the club. For any member who could not attend the AGM, they are very welcome to contact Paul Errington, the club Chairman for any queries.
