Bournemouth Chess Club
Chairman: Paul Errington
Secretary: Simon Errington,
Treasurer: Andrew Alderton
I am a chess beginner, can I join?
Of course! We welcome all standards of chess players. Our members can help you set up your first board or challenge you to improve your skills.
Where is the Bournemouth Chess Club based?
We play at the Winton Liberal Club on a Tuesday evening from 7-11pm. There is nearby parking and a bar for refreshments.
How many club teams play League Chess?
There are three teams playing in the Bournemouth & Dorset Chess League (B&DCL), in Divisions 2, 4 and 5. There is also the option for a fourth team, for those dipping their toe in competitive chess, to play in the newly formed Bacchus League. Let us know if you are interested!
Can I try out the club before deciding to join?
You are very welcome to come on a Tuesday evening and play a game of chess. We only ask that you send us a quick email to say you are coming and we can be ready to show you around.
What are the membership fees?
The annual membership fee is £34 (made up of £25 joining fee for Winton Liberal Club, to be paid in January and £9 to become a member of Bournemouth Chess Club). There is an additional £16 fee payable to join English Chess federation, should you play in one of the club teams and this is due in August.
How can I follow club news?
Do check the website for 'Club News' and updates to the 'Fixtures & Results'. We also post all updates on Twitter @Bmouthchessclub and Facebook @Bournemouthchessclub.
