Tournament Report: The Simon Bartlett Memorial Chess Congress

The Simon Bartlett Memorial Chess Congress
Friday 26th to Sunday 28th January
The Livermead House Hotel, Seafront, Torquay

Three club players entered this tournament, Paul Errington and Dave Burt in Minor and Paul Jackson in the Intermediate. It was a great weekend at the venue which we all stayed, The Livermead House Hotel. The Chess was 5 rounds commencing Friday night and finishing on Sunday afternoon. Everyone acquitted themselves well. Paul Jackson in the Intermediate scored 2.5 points. David 3 points and myself 3.5 points out of a maximum of 5. The games are all very competitive and would last on average 3 hours, with the maximum time 4 hours. Club players who participate in Congresses will have an A after their grade. Its worth remembering these club players have a wealth of experience.

Chairman, Paul Errington
