The Bournemouth Chess Club has opened its doors to the new generation of chess players. Offering use of our facilities and the opportunity to learn from our experienced players.
Our Chairman Paul Errington, helps tutor pupils at Harewood Academy and feels it is very important to give time to developing the new generation. Paul extended an invite to pupils aged 5-7 years, from Moordown Primary School to visit the club over the summer to play chess. This was a great success, with a number of our club members, sitting down to give them a game and offer some pointers. Club member David Burt was pleasantly surprised by the level of skill shown by such young players. Chess in Schools project is doing a brilliant job at encouraging chess education and the club is always happy to help.
Before playing in the Junior British Chess Championship under 9 competition, Larissa Cuthbert visited the club to practice her chess. It was wonderful to see local talent developing.
We look forward to seeing more junior chess stars, playing chess with us this season.
