Tournament Report: 48th Cotswold Chess Congress

Cotswold Chess Congress, Sat 28th, Sun 29th & Mon 30th May 2016

Bournemouth Chess Club members David Burt and Paul Errington played in the Minor Event and found the competition very challenging. David showed his experience by beating the top seeded player.

Paul played against three of the top juniors in the event, and avoided losing to any of them. One of his opponents was William Read (Grade 110), who is 12 years old and won the Frome Minor a few weeks ago. William definitely has the potential to be a major contender in the future.

Our final scores after six rounds were: no byes; Paul 3.5 out of 6; David 2 out of 6. The next tournament is the British Championship at the Bournemouth Pavilion, and we hope to see more of our players representing the Club.
